1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how AI Image Detector ("AI Image Detector," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and retains personal information when you visit https://isthatai.org, sign in, check an image, purchase credits or a subscription, or contact us. The service operator is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us at support@isthatai.org.
2. Information we collect
Account and authentication information
When you sign in with Google, we receive information made available for authentication, including your name, email address and profile image. We assign an internal user identifier and maintain your account and credit balance. We may also record login IP addresses and authentication or session information.
Detection and account activity information
When you submit an image file or a public HTTPS image URL, we process it to return an AI-generation assessment. We save the detection result, score, explanation, request status, timestamps, credits charged or refunded, and information needed to prevent duplicate requests and reconcile your account. The current detection flow does not save the uploaded image, the submitted image URL, or an image copy in our database or object storage.
Payment and subscription information
PayPal processes checkout and payment credentials. We do not receive or store your full card number or PayPal password. We maintain records needed to provide paid features and administer transactions, including PayPal order, capture, transaction and subscription identifiers; the plan purchased; price and currency; payment and subscription status; billing and entitlement dates; credits granted or reversed; and refund, reversal or dispute information.
Technical and communications information
We may process IP address, browser or device information, cookie and session identifiers, request and security logs, and diagnostic information. If you contact us, we process your email address, message and any information you choose to provide.
3. How and why we use information
We use information to authenticate users; receive and analyze image checks; display and retain detection results; calculate, deduct and refund credits; process purchases and subscriptions; provide customer support; secure, troubleshoot and improve the service; prevent fraud, abuse and duplicate requests; enforce our terms; handle payment disputes; and comply with legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the service and preventing abuse; your consent for processing that requires consent; and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Image checks and Hive
To provide an image check, we send the image file or public image URL you submit to Hive, our AI detection provider. Hive analyzes the input and returns classification scores that we use to display an assessment. Hive may process or retain data under its own terms and policies. Do not submit confidential information or content that you do not have the right or permission to use, including another person's personal information.
Our own use of submitted content is limited to providing, securing and supporting the detection service as described in this policy. We do not use submitted images to train our own model.
5. Cookies and authentication
We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, maintain sessions, secure the service and remember necessary preferences. Google authentication and other third-party services may set or receive cookies under their own policies. You can restrict cookies through your browser, but doing so may affect sign-in and other requested functionality.
6. How we disclose information
We disclose information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including to:
- Google for sign-in and account authentication;
- Hive for image detection;
- PayPal for checkout, payments, subscriptions, refunds, reversals and disputes;
- hosting, database, security and technical service providers that help operate the service; and
- professional advisers, authorities or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse or fraud, or establish and defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information for money or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. International data transfers
Our users and service providers may be located in different countries. Information may therefore be processed outside your country, including in the United States, where privacy laws may differ. Where required, we use appropriate transfer safeguards. Contact us if you would like more information about safeguards relevant to your information.
8. Data retention and deletion
Completed detection results are available in your account history for up to 7 days. After that, they no longer appear in account history. You may also request deletion or use an available delete function for your detection records. The current detection flow does not retain the submitted image file or image URL in our database or object storage.
We retain account, credit, payment, subscription, refund, dispute and security records for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it, subject to backup cycles and legal obligations.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including authenticated access to account history, server-side payment and credit validation, and restricted service credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your privacy rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and complain to a privacy regulator. To make a privacy request, email support@isthatai.org from the address associated with your account and describe your request. We may need to verify your identity and will respond as required by applicable law. Some information may be retained when necessary to complete a transaction, protect the service, comply with law, or establish or defend legal claims.
11. Children
The service is not directed to children under 13 or below the minimum age at which they may lawfully use the service in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service, providers or legal requirements change. We will post the updated policy and revise its effective date. If a change materially affects how we use previously collected information, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent when required.

AI image detection and privacy
When you submit an image check while signed in, we send the uploaded image or image URL to Hive for analysis. We do not save a copy of the uploaded image in our database or object storage, and we do not save the submitted image URL.
We save the detection result and the credit charge or refund records needed to reconcile account usage. Results remain available in scan records for up to 7 days; credit activity remains on the account. Hive may process and retain data it receives under its own terms.
